Laptop fan issue HP ProBook

I have a HP ProBook 440 G1 laptop, and the cooling fan isnt working. It boots into windows and everything, but the fan doesn't spin. It only spins for a split second and then cuts off (as if it got power only for a split second). I have disassembled the laptop carefully (it still works) and I want to know what the issue is. Is there a way for me to test the fan outside of the system? What is the reason the fan is behaving like this? Any and all help is appreciated, Thanks! ☺️

How many pins/wires go to your fan? Most fans are 12 v dc. I'm guessing a 9v battery should spin the blades - maybe not as quick as it's designed for but at least you would know if the fan is ok. I wouldn't leave it hooked up to the battery for too long.
