I have been trying to get a replacement battery to work with my Dell Inspiron 15 (5559).
My current battery (dell original) is fine and I'm trying to get a replacement for the time when this one goes bad (as they always seem to do).
The problem with it is this: with the new battery inserted I plug in the power/charger to the laptop. The disk activity light goes from white for a few seconds then starts blinking orange - nonstop.
note: I started the laptop using the power/charging cable plugged in.
The charger & cord is good with no problems there It is 45 watt, could it not be enough power for the replacement batt?
The Dell Power Manager showed 9% charge but not charging, with a battery health error
and battery setting "Unknown".
This happened with the first battery I got from my supplier and he was understanding enough
of my problem to send me a second one. Great! Well not really. I inserted the new battery
and it did the same exact thing, except this time the Dell Power Manager says 0% charge available
with a battery health error and battery setting unknown.
In both cases the Dell Power Manager gives further information (same for both batteries)
Battery type: Enhanced, Connection: Primary, Manufacturer: Samsung SDI, Dell Battery: Yes,
Serial Number: 0001, PPID: KRS...blah blah blah
I've tried all the hard reset options and other things I've read elsewhere on the internet,
and even left it plugged in all night but to no avail. I do understand Dell computers can be somewhat finicky when it comes to batteries, but I'm at a point of returning both batts to the supplier and (regrettably) spending more $$ and buying a genuine Dell battery where I know
and am assured that it will work as expected and if not Dell will replace with one that works.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
