hp k7w76ua#aba

Today screen went black after plug in.
Caplocks Blinking.

Long story short about 6 months ago my kid tripped on the cord and somehow managed to damage the port and I can only use the laptop while plugged as it will not keep a charge. Sucks but dealt.

Today I power it on and it is black screened and Caplocks is blinking 1x with a 2sec delay and flashes again.

Don't know if it's relevant but the wifi/f12 button is a solid orange/red color. I never paid attention to what it does at startup but once its on it's usually just the LED color.

Can anyone give me any advice? Id hate to think this thing is a goner.

TIA

.....mom who needs her laptop for life! Lol

Solution
Try this...

1. Turn the laptop off (not sleep or hibernate but off).
2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop.
3. Turn on the external monitor.
4. Turn on the laptop.

NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work.

If you can see fine on the external monitor, then your attached display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, are your problem.

If you can't see on the external monitor at all, or the problem occurs on the external monitor as well, then it is probably the graphics card/GPU that is the problem, which may require the motherboard be replaced.
