I have read quite a few threads now but all of the information seems dated around ~2012.

I am not asking for convenience but my laptop's internal sata connection for the HDD is broken and the laptop is outside warranty. The laptop is quite high spec so I would prefer not to replace it.

Anyway, question is, can I make a 2TB external hard drive into the Primary C drive.
Is this possible?
Is this practical?
What is the process?

Thank you all for your time.

Solution
OK...technically there are a few methods to have a Windows OS on an external drive.
But:
1. It will be sloooow
2. It will involve a full reinstall.

Fix or replace the laptop.
