What is a mic setup on a Panasonic Blue ray and speaker set?

I bought this system with 7 speakers and I'm trying to set it up to work with my tv. Everytime I run the auto setup, it says the middle speaker doesn't work, and it tells me to insert a setup mic, what is a setup mic?

It's likely a microphone you place in a room that listens to how the audio is setup. Did you read the manual and support site for your product? You said "this system" but did not actually list what you have.

If you don't have the set up mic it might have a manual set up mode. Check the set up menu.
You are setting the distance each speaker is from your listening position. You are also setting the volume of each speakers so that the calibration signal is the same volume. That sets the system to duplicate what the audio engineer heard. The subwoofer level isn't set with the same method. You basically set that to taste.
