Hi,
I have an up to date curved TV with headphones out and digital optical out...my stereo system won’t accept any of these as it has no optical source, and only a headphones out like the tv..it has the red and white connections but I presume they are outputs and not inputs?
Can someone please help as I’ve been wreaking my head for a week now!!

Solution
Yeah. Probably your simplest solution would be to get a 3.5mm Stereo to RCA L/W audio cable from your local electronics shop (or online). Just something like this cable should be all you need.

Would help to know the model numbers of the devices involved, but I would guess your TV's Red/White RCA connections are actually inputs, especially if they're near the video inputs.

In theory, you could go from the TV's Headphones out and using a converter cable 3.5mm stereo to RCA L/R, connect it that way.

Thanks for answering...
The TV is a Samsung UE48JU6500k...
The stereo system is a Ministry of Sound MOSTSO72 M0036283910 which I have 2 speakers plugged into with speaker wire.
I also have a SkyHD box and primarily all I want to do is hook up the two speakers to the TV/Sky for superior noise. The red and white RCAs coming out of the TV are indeed inputs, but there is the digital optical output.

I have the same requirement. My LG smart TV doesnt have RCA outs, so I have to use the headphone socket as an audio out. When I do this, plugging into my Marantz PM5005 amp, it just makes a loud humming noise. What could be the problem?
