Without makes and model number we can't know what connections you have available.
Check what audio output the TV has.
Check what audio inputs the receiver has.
Most common audio output is optical digital audio. If the receiver has that input then use it. Check the manuals on how to configure the TV and receiver.
If you don't have a matching output and input you need to convert the output to the correct type for the input. There are converters for every combination. If you can stay digital to digital that would give you the best sound.
