Yes, a ssd should not be a problem.
On a unrelated matter - it appears your acer has a Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 'socket p' processor. If so, did you know that you could get a T9600 for ~$11 from ebay? - it would boost your speed from 2.0 Ghz to 2.8 - that would be quite noticeable. No absolute guaranty it would work but odds are good.
