So I'm trying to help a friend out and speed up his boot time. He has a Latitude E7240 Ultrabook, but every time he restarts it or powers it on, it takes in excess of 2 hours. One of my possible theories is that his System & Reserve is at an astonishing 101GB. We downloaded the Dell Support Assist app and it says his Hard Drive was fine, but I don't know how reliable it is. We have even tried completely resetting the device, but that did not seem to help. If you have any suggestions, leave them below! Thx in advance!

Solution
Coiuld be a failing hard drive, insufficient or failing RAM or a bad Windows installation.

Start with the hard drive. When it does finally open up, press the Windows key and R together and at the prompt in the Command form that shows up, type
chkdsk /r
and hit the Enter key.

That process could take hours but it would be worth waiting it out.

2-3 possibilities
A. Processor is running 100% and cannot run normally...
B. you have too many applications running, delete as many as possible. If you installed Chrome, or any other memory hog applications (like Google Earth), delete them.
If you installed a bunch of "free" stuff from the internet, delete it.(like free games, etc)
C. Malware infection.
Try to get processor down to 70% or lower.

Windows 10? Black screen with Dell logo and spinning dots for almost exactly 2 hours before the login screen shows up?
