Toshiba black screen

I have a toshiba ct 8035 and the screen has went black it turns off and on and I have checked all connections. It lights up but fades to black can’t see menu or volume buttons can anyone help?

Does it only do this when the battery is running the machine? Check in Control Panel>Power Options that it isn't set to save energy by turning off the display.

A good experiment would be to connect the laptop to a PC monitor and use the Fn key in conjunction with whichever top row key has a graphic of two screens on it.
