Keyboard problem please help

NOTE: If you need to type in a password to even get into Windows to do the following, make sure you attached an external keyboard first, to get past the password. Then disconnect the external keyboard and try the following...

1. Uninstall the keyboard driver.
2. Reboot the computer (without reinstalling the driver).
3. When it restarts, it should reinstall the driver on its own.

If this doesn't work, you may wish to try connecting an external keyboard and see if it works fine. If it does, then it could be the keys themselves that are the issue.

You may also want to try updating the Synaptics Driver if the above doesn't help.

Well I managed to disable the password so I can get in just fine but when I tried to uninstall the Ps/2 keyboard and reinstall it, it still does not work -_-.

Is it possible that the motherboard may be a possible problem? By the way both does not work for 1,2,3,4 only.

If both don't work for only those numbers I find that really really odd. Since the attached keyboard and the external one connect differently. And you did the driver uninstall, reboot, reinstall?

Hmm... Does it type anything at all when you use those keys (like alternate things or letters), or nothing? Also, is it the 1-4 on the side of the keyboard or up above the letter keys?

Yep it is only 1-4. Do you think it is better to just buy a new keyboard? By the way, it does not type anything at all and it is not number locked. I mean I can actually type 1-4 using the num lock numbers but it is inconvenient for me. If you mean by what is above the numbers functions, they all operate normally.

If it is only typing 1-4 when you hit the numlock, then that is the keys on the right. So the keys above the letters are the ones that aren't working.

Do they work when using them for the other things associated with those keys (like when holding shift) or not at all for anything? And if not working for anything on both the attached keyboard and any external one, then replacing the attached one wouldn't fix it. If it was just a physical problem with the attached keyboard, then an external one should work fine.

Oh so that is why you wanted me to try an external keyboard. I do not see anything as being damaged when I took out the key. Well even using exclamation mark and so on does not work.
