Hi tomshardware,

I have a Acer Aspire E1-431 laptop with celeron B820 1.7GHz processor.i want to upgrade it.can i do this...?///please tell me

Technically, you could, but you’d have to open up the entire system. The top cover (where your keyboard is), the motherboard itself, and many other things are all coming off, and you better hope you don’t damage the system. If you have any warranties, those would be gone.

An i5 2540M would most likely work ... 2.6 Ghz - turbos to 3.3

As another user mentioned, the i5 will provide a better speed boost than the celeron.
