Hello! I have an ASUS K25JU laptop that I have been using for 6 years and works okay until recently. It overheated 'cause the fan stopped working so I decided to replace it but now, I can't play heavy games unlike before, it suddenly shuts down after playing for a few minutes. I just decided not to play games and just use it for watching videos and other light processes.

But a few days from now, my laptop just suddenly shuts down while I'm watching a video but I didn't mind it until now where I was just reading a manga in the Photos app.

The charger still works but the battery is dead (it had 2 replacements).
I am experiencing screen tearing also after the series of shut downs. So I am thinking it might be a hardware failure.

I want to ask if what might it be. Thank you very much in advance

if you are comfortable in disassembling your laptop. you can unscrew the back of your laptop until you can find your heatsink and fans. you might need to remove any dust/hair that is clogging it up. or just bring that to a PC shop to have them look into it for you.

I cleaned it recently before replacing the fan, I thought it would be solved but the fan was the problem so I got it replaced. It worked ok but playing heavy games make it shut down suddenly.
Thank you, I was thinking of going tomorrow to a shop and see it checked.

its too late, youre replacing the fan after the cpu already overheated way too long.
the damage is done, you might need to replace the mobo (which is not recommended, price wise).

(assuming youre replacing the fan and the thermal paste)

When the CPU overheated, I never used my laptop for a few days until the fan was replaced. I quite agree that the damage has been done.

Thanks for the reply
