Hey everyone,

A month ago, I got a new laptop. The Acer Nitro AN515-51-51TB. I used to be pretty handy with desktops but this is my first gaming laptop and I'm not really up to date anymore.
The laptop features :

Intel Core i5 7300h, 2.5ghz that goes up to 3.5
Nvidia GTX 1050 with 4GB VRAM
12GB DDR4 RAM
1 TB HDD
128GB SSD

When playing games, I notice my laptop go up to 70 degrees on the CPU, which doesn't seem too bad, but I noticed that I cannot play games with the dedicated graphics card until I plug in the charger in. Now obviously this isn't a huge deal, but I was wondering if this would damage the battery over time, especially when having long gaming sessions (up to 5 hours or so.) I keep a cooling pad underneath my laptop to keep the battery from heating and provide better airflow, but I was wondering If anyone could provide some insight that'd be great, will it cut the battery life short/damage any other components? if so are there any ways to prevent it? Thank you. I know looking for long battery life in a gaming laptop is pretty much impossible but I was just wondering.

Some games I play for reference ;
GTA V
League of Legends
CS : GO
Overwatch
(mainly first two games)

tl;dr gaming laptop needs charger plugged in consistently and I was wondering if that would damage the battery or any other components in the long run.

Thank you so much for reading this.

Solution
No ... having the charger plugged in will not be detremental to the battery or to other components. Your laptop is designed to run this way and for good performance it is by far the best way.

70 degrees is a good temp when the processor is under load and nothing to worry about. It's T max is 100 degrees and you are comfortably beneath that.
