So I have an hp 250 g2 laptop that has a broken screen (can’t see ANYTHING) so I took it apart hoping to order a new screen and replace it, but had the bright idea to try and convert it into a desktop since the battery is fried as well. So I externally wiped the hard drive and put it all back together. Now I’m trying to figure out why it won’t boot using an external screen? Everything seems to be working perfectly inside (when I power it on I can hear the fan and hard drive spinning) I just can’t see anything on my external monitor. I tried using a vga connection as well as a hdmi connection and nothing works. I was wondering if anyone knew how to force it to boot up using an external screen. HDMI, or vga or whatever.

Solution
Turn on the laptop, then quickly close the screen, it may detect the external display. The reason it no longer works with the external display is because it needs drivers to run the external connection on a secondary screen.
