Hi all, I cannot get my system up and running.

I have a AT LP 120-USB connected to a Denon AVR 1612. The speakers are Wharfdale 220s and connected with 12AWG Oxygen-Free Pure Bare Copper Speaker Wire.

I hear a pop when I power up my receiver then low static noise. I can hear music but it's muffled.

Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Solution
Those speakers have biwire terminals. If the jumper between the woofer and tweeter terminals is loose or has been removed the tweeters won't work and the sound will be muffled.
Connect an antenna to the tuner of the receiver and try it with that rather than the TT. That will tell you whether the problem is in the receiver or TT.
Since this is an AVR receiver you need to set it to stereo and you may need to assign the analog audio connection from the TT to an input or need to select analog for that input in the receiver input menu.

Thanks, I got that part right at least, it is set to Line yet I still hear muffled sound. Perhaps I have a defective receiver?
