I’ve been trying to connect my Sharp LC-19DV24U to my old Sony STRD515 receiver. The receiver has no digital input/output. I bought a digital to analog audio converter and a coaxial cable because the tv only has a coaxial output. I connected it all and no sound! I tried all the different inputs phono/cd...Then I tried connecting the yellow video line from receiver to tv and that worked with DVD player. However once I went back to the other inputs - no sound. I had coaxial audio out from tv go into coaxial audio in of converter. The red and white of converter went to the red and white audio on receiver in the tv/ld line. Lastly as a final effort, I connected the yellow video in to tv/ld video in.

Did you turn on the digital out on the TV?
You may need to turn the TV speakers off in the TV menu to get the digital output to work.
If your DAC doesn't accept an 5.1 Bitstream input you need to change the audio output type to PCM stereo in the TV menu,
Select the TV/LD line level input on the receiver.
The video connection is irrelevant.

I have no idea how to turn on digital out on the tv. The TVs audio menu has two options- HDMI and DVI. There are no other options that I can ascertain. I muted tv but that didn’t matter. Why does it work with dvd in the tv and not a different input. We have a fire stick plugged into the hdmi port. I would love to hear the music from that on the stereo speakers
