Is it possible to use external speakers with the Nintendo Switch without a receiver?

Basically, I have a Logitech Z906 5.1 system that goes into my PC with a fiber optic cable. Then from my graphics card into my monitor there is a display port cable. This gives me the surround sound on my PC.

With the Switch, I could send the HDMI from the console into my monitor and get picture, but just the monitor speaker sound.

Essentially, can I use the Switch with my fiber optic speaker system?

This is what the back of the input area looks like, not sure what some of the other inputs are.

Thanks for any responses!

The headphone jack would be stereo not surround sound. You would need a receiver to use HDMI on the switch for 5.1 sound.

Ok, so would I need to get a cable that is 3.5mm on either side? Would any cable carry the 5.1 signal?
