I have a new Yamaha RX-A1070 receiver, which replaced a failing Yamaha RX-V765 receiver, hooked up to a Samsung LN7100 series LED TV.
When I play TV with the receiver OFF the TV speakers make an intermittent sound, like bubbles popping. With receiver on everything is fine. With receiver on and headphones plugged in, sound is fine. Everything is connected with HDMI . This wasn't happening with old receiver and doesn't happen if I connect TV to DIRECTV Satellite receiver leaving Yamaha Receiver out of the loop. My hookup: DirecTV HR54 to HDMI1 in, Samsung Blu-ray/DVD HDMI2 in, HDMI1 out to TV HDMI 1 in. I know there are many different sound options (too many too list here) with the Yamaha receiver
Does anyone have ANY ideas?

Sounds like the HDMI pass through on the receiver is not working correctly. I doubt there are any settings in the receiver that affect the pass through function but check the manual to be sure.
Whether it's that receiver or all of that model with the same problem is the question. Contact Yamaha.
You can work around it by leaving the DTV box connected to the TV and using HDMI-ARC to get the audio to the receiver.
No loss of sound quality if you do this.

I'm not sure I follow. If I leave DirecTV box connected directly to HDMI1 on TV I will get my audio and video through TV only (which is what I want sometimes). When I want surround audio and video through the Yamaha receiver the ARC is HDMI 1 OUT. On the TV the ARC is HDMI2. How will My DirecTV signal get audio and video through to Yamaha receiver?
It seems (and maybe I'm misunderstanding something) that in order to get that signal to my Home Theater Receiver there would have to be another HDMI output on the DirecTV box.
