how well will the i5 7300HQ hold up for gaming

will this cpu last very long in terms off decent gaming performance if it is coupled with a 1060 max Q and 8gb RAM at 1080p minimum medium settings at least 30fps?

The i5-7300HQ will be fine. Most games do not make use of more than 4 cores. Additionally, there are hardly any games that are designed to make use of Hyper Threading (HT) which allows the CPU to process 2 threads of instructions. The only current game I am aware of that does make use of HT is Overwatch. The only other game I am aware of that makes use of HT is a space combat simulator that got really, really bad reviews back in 2012 or 2013.
