Can I connect my Samsung UA40J5200 smart TV to Yamaha 1840 Home Theatre? I have connected Set top box output to Yamaha receiver then to HDMI input of TV from Yahama receiver and it works fine. However I am not finding any options from TV to connect to the Yamaha receiver.
It does not has optical audio output it has only 3.5mm audio out, I tried 3.5mm to Optical converter but didnt work. Please help.

Your TV has an analog audio output.
Your HTS has an analog audio input.
No need to convert to optical. No improvement in sound if you do.
Check the TV manual on how to use the analog audio out. You may need to turn it on and turn the TV speakers off.

No my TV is not having Optical audio out hence I used Toslink converter then connected optical cable but that didnt work
