VIZIO SB3851-D0 subwoofer hack

Solution
Being that the 6” sub that it comes with is way over powered a low wattage bigger sub would work well I have a 12” kicker comp with a 300 watt peak power capability in a ported car sub box and it works very well with no distortion whatsoever

Thanks for the reply. I want to replace the speaker and amp in the subwoofer box. Well that work?

If it will work depends on how the parts fit in the sub, speaker may be pretty easy to swap out, amp would have to actually fit inside the enclosure. I would not bother doing that and just replace the system with another one that sounds like how I want it.

Can you? Sure.
Will it sound better? Completely unknown.

Generally, the cone, amp, crossover, and box are designed to work together.
Putting in different parts may or may not be 'better'.

Far more beneficial just to buy a new sub that meets your needs.
Or, go full custom and build your own.
