So my daughter has decided she likes taking photos, so we were given a Nikon D70 body.
But now I’m so confused as to what lenses fit I don’t have much money at the min so was hoping to get something off eBay or a shop called cex but I’m lost as to what compatible ones I can use advice needed

Solution
For a beginner, I'd strongly recommend against buying used on ebay.
Unless you really, really know what you're looking for, it is easy to get ripped off.

Try the used section at bhphotovideo.com.

The Nikon d70 is an easy camera to buy lenses for. Almost all Nikon lenses will work. Almost all Nikon compatible lenses will form (including Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, and half a dozen other brands).

It is not like Canon which replaced with FD mount with a EF and EFS mount. The Nikon mount is the same F mount as always. Some entry level newer cameras (not your daughters) can't auto-focus some of the older lenses. But the d70 can. If you have any questions about a specific lens, just start a new thread everytime you have a question and I or one of the other Nikon users will be along shortly to give you our input.

Before you buy on ebay, compare prices to Amazon.com used prices and to KEH.com

If you're looking at CeX then I assume you're in the UK? If so, check Wex, mpb and LCE as they sell second-hand gear and are camera specialists, so they can tell you what to look for. As USAFRet said, eBay is fine, but only if you know what you're looking for.

A D70 will work just fine with every Nikon lens ever made, but knowing which lens you need is key, hence why places like eBay and CeX are best avoided.

We have a fairly complete list of all of Nikon's lenses, and what they do. Check out this story:
