My setting is
PC with gtx 980ti connected to LG receiver with hdmi then connected with 5.1 surround system

Audio settings in pc is set to 5.1 surround system

When I play games that support 5.1, it works fine.
When I play youtube music, only two front speakers and subwoofer works but rear speakers dont work.

Is there any way to allow all speakers to work when using 2.1 files in pc??

All the sound mode I tried with my receiver didnt seem to resolve it so if i change the receiver it should work?

I am struggling with this for hours...

There is no recorded music with 2.1 Always 2.0 and the subwoofer content is taken from the stereo channels.
Most AV receivers will have modes for deriving surround sound from stereo. Different brand have different modes. The most common one is Dolby Prologic2 music. How well they work varies. There are also multichannel stereo modes where all the speaker work full out in stereo. Check the owners manual of the receivers you are interested in and check the different modes. Yamaha usually has a lot of these.

Thanks for the reply!
My receiver has dolby pro logic ii mode but this mode is only available for stereo source.
My pc is connected to receiver via hdmi so it is connected through pcm (which i think is sending 5.1 signal), so it cannot use the dolby prologic mode. It can use the dolby prologic mode only if i set the pc output setting to stereo....

If i get an better receiver, would i be able to activate dolby pro logic mode even with my pc sending pcm output (5.1 source)?
