I need a laptop for school next year and I have seen these two laptops as standouts due to price, battery life, weight and specs however I'm not sure which one I should go for especially considering the one with the i7 is cheaper than the i5. If anyone has a different laptop that would suit that is A. available in australia, B. around $1600 AUD and C. preferably has a graphics card(not integrated graphics) however I dont need anything too fancy because I have a rig at home for any gaming I would be doing other than in class or travel.

Any advice is appreciated

thanks in advance.

Do you want a 14" or 15" laptop? I too was looking at the zenbook 430uq with 940mx graphics (at $1400 cad before taxes) I decided to hold off.

Lots of black friday sales right now, I picked up a Lenovo Ideapad 720s (14") with 8th gen i7 cpu, mx150 gpu (30% more power than 940mx). Also has an awesome bezel less display like the Zenbook or xps. Best part it was $1100 CAD all in.

Some notebooks I'd suggest checking out:
Lenovo Ideapad 720S
Dell XPS 15 - probably your more expensive option unless you opt for a lower spec option
Acer Swift 3 - saw it on sale for like $675usd on amazon, has i5-8th gen CPU, and MX150 graphics.
Hauwei Matebook - forget the model but has 940mx graphics

I'll update if I can think of any more as I'm not...

I'll update if I can think of any more as I'm not positive of the availability in Australia as well as conversion rate.
