can i use 8 ohm speakers instead of 3 ohm on sony HT ?

i have sony BDV E2100 with 3 ohm small speakers ,so i want to replace front speaker of my old sony HT which is 8 ohm, MAY any damages?
 
Solution
It is always safe to replace low impedance speakers with higher, just less loud. If those "3 ohm" speakers measure 3 ohms of DC resistance then they are actually 4 ohm AC impedance. You can use two of them in series to make 8 ohms.

If you measure the 8 ohm rated speakers with a DC meter they should measure between 6 and 7 ohms.
