Norton and McAfee are trash. You better off with Emsisoft Anti Malware with good protection, customer support, and privacy.

For free antivirus, you can go with Avast Free, Panda Free, Kaspersky Free, or Bitdefender Free. Another good free protection combo is Windows Defender ( antivirus + antimalware) + VoodooShield ( Anti-Exe) + Avira Browser Safety Extension ( Malicious and Phishing site protection). With Windows 10 Fall Creator, you already received exploit and ransomware protection provided by Microsoft.

A good place to start is looking at independent testing sites, AV-comparatives is one great example, and can give you an idea of how different AV's perform. We are one of the few free options tested!

Even though it's our free offering, you do get real-time protection both by streaming updates as well as CyberCapture and Behavior Shield -- so it's a lot more than just basic coverage.

A real-time protection is an automatic shield provided by most antivirus, antispyware and antimalware programs. I do believe for start looking up independent testing sites and choose according to the need and basic coverage

I don't know what you talking about, but I rather trust those antivirus youtubers review than independent testing sites such as AV-Comparatives.

Hello, actually I am talking about the trial versions of security programs by comparing the features through the google search and watching videos as you are saying youtube reviews like that and also suggestions from experienced persons. I don't want to stick to one platform for choosing any security program. :)
