Help with laptop purchase

I need a dependable laptop that will support me for the next 4 yrs. in school. I basically will use the office suite, internet, watch movies and upload pics. I'm looking at a ACER Intel core i5 7200U 2.5hz for 499.00 on sale only this weekend. Is this a smart dependable laptop?

Hard to say because even a laptop that costs $1,500 can breakdown on you in 4 years.

In general, Acer is a value oriented brand that offers you good bang for your buck. They have been improving the quality of their more expensive laptops recently. Perhaps the following article about brand rankings can help you out.
