I want to know if I should buy a dedicated sound card for better audio quality.
I am somewhat of an audiophile and also a video editor. Most of my work is visual, but sound is just as important (yet usually requires less work on my part). Sound includes recorded audio from microphones, music, and sound effects. If I want the best possible sound quality for my current setup, should I buy a dedicated soundcard?
I have a highend motherboard, an MSI Z170 Krait ATX. I use a fiber optic audio cable to connect it to an Onkyo A-9010 amp, which then has 12awg wires running to Cerwin-Vega L-7 speakers. I always use 328kbps mp3 at a minimum for leisure and WAV or FLAC files for leisure and work.
Will all of the given information, would I get any benefit from getting a dedicated sound card?
