I did do a search on this, and if I did miss it, apologies. Nothing related seemed to be the right thing, so I decided to post this. So... I'm trying to find a switch which will automatically switch between sources. This is for my 70+ year old dad, who cannot seem to handle even switching the TV between sources, even though I've explained it to him a quite a few times. Specifially, he has a DVD/VCR player which will run AV or component (RGB) output and dishnet, which is HDMI output. So in an ideal world, I'm looking for a switch which will automatically switch to said DVD player when on, then just go back to dish when off said DVD is off. Seems simple enough, but when I've done searches, I can't seem to find the right thing. Any ideas, suggestions, input? Thanks in advance.

Solution
To use an HDMI switch like the one linked to above you would need to add an active component video/audio to HDMI converter too and he would have to remember to turn off the VCR so it would switch back to the dishnet
You might try a Logitech Harmony remote. The macros would give him 1 button to each source and it would turn on the TV as well. It programs on their website so it's not hard to configure.
