My Acer laptop doesn't seem to be communicating with my external hard drive.

It keeps saying there is a problem; will restart. But it keeps repeating and says will reboot. I just connected it and now can't go any further. I can open my drive folder. Thank you.

Solution
Try this. When you connect the drive, instead of double clicking on the drive icon to open it, right click and then select Properties-Tools-Check.
Also, go into windows event viewer around the time of the reboot, check the events that say critical and are around the timestamp of the reboot (within a few min) and post their id and description here.

Thank you, I'll try that.
