Hi all,

I am looking to buy a gaming laptop for around $1000 USD. It would have to run games like Player Unknown Battlegrounds and BF1. Unfortunately, I am also in a junior in college, so I would have to be able to write papers on MS word and presentations on MS powerpoint. Thank you!

Sorry I got busy and wasn't able to respond sooner. In desktop form, the GTX 1060 is about 50% faster than the 1050Ti. Here's an example of a BF1 benchmark: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_geforce_gtx_1060_gaming_x_plus_review,15.html

I'm not familiar with Player Unknown Battlegrounds and have not seen that used in a hardware benchmark review. But IMO if you are going to spend a grand on a laptop, you should just spend a little more for a lot better hardware. Unlike desktop PCs, you cannot upgrade video cards in laptops as almost every one has the GPU soldered onto the motherboard. The last thing you'd want is buyer's remorse when spending that kind of money.

If I get the one that has the GTX 1050 Ti, 4 gb video memory, 256 gb ssd and 1tb hhd, do you think that I will be able to run those games i listed in the thread post at a good fps and graphics setting? Is it really worth spending an extra $150+ to upgrade a GTX 1050 to a 1060?

If I do the gtx 1060, it says that i cant put a hard drive in it. Does this mean I can only use the ssd for storing games and word documents?
