External Laptop GPU

hello, I was hoping to install an external GPU to my laptop using this

I will be upgrading my ram t 8gb the 4gb SODIMM has already been order i Just wanna be able to play games i don't really care about the settings and i was wondering what graphic cards will I be able to use with the CPU if i can use a 1050 that would be amazing if not than recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

It uses the mini-PCIe port in the laptop. That is where the WiFi card is inserted. If you want to use that eGPU port, then you need to remove the WiFi port. The mini-PCie port only has 1 PCIe lane meaning it has pretty limited bandwidth. Desktop PCIe ports for GPUs have 16 PCIe lanes. I think the GTX 1050 needs at least 4 PCIe lanes for it not to be bottlenecked.

While the GTX 1050 isn't exactly the most powerful desktop GPU, I believe a the mini-PCIe port will definitely limit it's performance. As stated above, you will need a power supply and a separate monitor in order for this setup to work.
If you want to use a 1050 with that external device, it will be fine. Keep in mind it will only work with an external monitor and you need a power supply for the card. Plus you should check with the vendor about specific compatibility. In almost all cases it is better to just sell the laptop you have and get one with a real gaming video card instead of having an external monitor and video card.
