Hello
I need to know if my motherboard gigabyte 970A DS3P would be good enough to run AKG K702 headphones.
Will i have to buy an amp?.

Solution
they will work... might be on the low/underpowered side... or sound flat with sharp tones coming too sharp... the 701 do that on a older mb sound card... same Realtek chip... 62ohm headphones... try it first... if you dont like it grab an external usb card with proper output for higher Ohm headphones

You're right about the quality of the realtek chip, but im not sure how a USB dac/sound card fares against an internal soundcard....might be a good test for Tom's staff to consider performing...
