I have a cheap microphone which work when plugged into the microphone jack on the top of my case, but doesn't work when plugged into the microphone jack on the motherboard. It also plays audio from my headphones through the microphone and I have tried everything I can find and think of and nothing is working. I've plugged other headset microphones into the rear microphone jack and it works but I have to speak through the ear cups for it to work as the actual microphone part of the headset doesn't.
