Hello,

I have got a PC Running Windows 10 64bit with a Gigabyte z97 gaming 3 Motherboard. It uses the Realtek HD audio manager. I have recently bought these headphones (Beats EP https://goo.gl/Wm1ssL)

I wanted to be able to use them on my phone and my PC. everything works fine on my phone (All buttons, Speakers and Mic).

I bought this audio Splitter: https://goo.gl/NsNQYE) Which allows me to split the single Aux from the Headphones into 2 separate Aux ports with one for Audio and one for the Mic. As indicated on the Amazon page for the product.

Now the problem I am having is that when I use these two products on my PC the Audio works perfectly. but the Mic is either nothing or a soft single tone that constantly plays and it does not pick up any sound from the Mic.

I have tried every setting I can find in both the Realtek HD Manager and the Sounds/Recording Devices within Windows 10. I cannot seem to find the problem or find a solution.

Please help me.

Thanks
David

I think that your problem are the headphones. Those are specifically built for use with an iPhone so i am not sure the PC will accept the microphone even though you are using the splitter.
Other possible problem: your microphone input is not correctly set up. Check if you plugged the microphone in the correct input jack. I have exactly the same motherboard (Z97 Gaming3) and didnt find the Realtek manager intuitive to work with, but it does the job. It even shows you if you are using the right input jack since it detects where did you plug it. If possible, take a picture of the cable connection or describe where did you plugged them in. I presume you are using the black (output) jack in the light-green socket and the red one (microphone) in the pink socket.

Hi there,

Yeah, I too find the Realtek manager intuitive. I understand what you mean about the Aux being made for iPhone because the same thing happens when I try with my iPhone earphones.

But I have attached a Picture of how I have plugged the aux cables in. Pretty confident Its right.. But just wondering, as you have the same mobo, do you know if they are any settings within Realtek manager that I should need to change for this to work?

Thanks.

P.S. Please let me know if you cannot see the image. I dont know if the link is working.. but just in case heres the link again https://ibb.co/h4fmyw

I see the cable is correctly connected and my suspicion about the phones being made for iPhones was the culprit is true. If you connect everything correctly, i think there will be no need to configure anything in the Realtek sound manager. In fact, i don't even use it anymore and just let windows install its drivers and manage the sound.
Please let me know if the new adapter suggested by americanaudiophile worked.

Hi there,

So i purchased the adapter you suggested and it finally arrived. But the problem is still here. But I'm starting to think it could be my audio driver or hardware because on my laptop which also uses two ports (one for mic and one for sound) and the beats or apple earphones work on the laptop but on my PC with the Gigabyte Gaming 3 motherboard, the mic still just gives a high pitched tone and nothing else..

MERGED QUESTION
Question from davideoproductionssa : "Aux Splitter Mic not working but audio is?"

I have got a PC Running Windows 10 64bit with a Gigabyte z97 gaming 3 Motherboard. It uses the Realtek HD audio manager. I have recently bought these headphones (Beats EP https://goo.gl/Wm1ssL) (I have also tried with Apple Earphones because they have the same Aux)

I wanted to be able to use them on my phone and my PC. everything works fine on my phone (All buttons, Speakers and Mic).

I bought these audio Splitters as I thought it was the splitter that was the issue but it turns out they both work fine on different computers: https://goo.gl/NsNQYE & https://goo.gl/ByGqrj) Which allows me to split the single Aux from the Headphones into 2 separate Aux ports with one for Audio and one for the Mic.

Now the problem I am having is that when I use these two products on my PC the Audio works perfectly. but the Mic is either nothing or a soft single tone that constantly plays and it does not pick up any sound from the Mic. But this only happens on my PC with the specs I mentioned.. when I try this on my Laptop everything works perfectly?

I have tried every setting I can find in both the Realtek HD Manager and the Sounds/Recording Devices within Windows 10. I cannot seem to find the problem or find a solution. I have also updated my audio driver.

I have also tried plunging in just a Mic into the Mic port and it seems to work fine. so I am really stumped for what the issue is..

Please help me.

Thanks
David
