Without a model number we can't know what audio outputs the TV has.
If you want to use self powered speakers then the simplest way is to get ones that have an optical audio input. That is the most common type of audio output on TVs. The speakers will need their own volume control since this output is fixed level.
If the TV has a headphone jack that can be use with powered speakers that have a mini plug as the input.
Using passive speakers would require an amplifier too.
You could open the TV and modify it to provide a connection to the low powered amp that is playing the internal speakers. Won't play loud with most speakers.
