I am at my witts end and really could use some assistance please. My dell Inspiron 14-3452 usb ports stopped working on the left side claiming a power surge in one port despite nothing being plugged in. A further look shows the black plastic part is missing inside the second usb port. The SDcard reader seems to have stopped working as well. I opened up the laptop to see if I could see any obvious damage. Upon replacing the back cover back, i booted it up and now the touchpad is no longer responding. I tried installing new drivers but the computer claims it failed to do so and I am unsure how to uninstall the original drivers as they are not located in the device management section of the cpu. I am so lost and would appreciate any help. Thank you!

1| I think you're going to have to disassemble the laptop following the video you looked through to trace your steps and see if you forgot to plug in the ribbon cable that is responsible for connecting the trackpad to the motherboard. While you're there it'd be a good idea to dust the components/parts off of any dust/debris, they can cause glitches like you've stated.

2| Can you pass on the SKU to your laptop? Perhaps we can source a replacement part for the USB port(s)...?

Thank you for answering me. Originally i had disconnected a ribbon but i made sure to place it back in the first time, I did disassemble it again like you proposed.and double checked everything I had done, including the ribbon but unfortunately nothing has changed and I'm still stuck using a wired mouse in the only working usb port.

Is the SKU# the same as the service tag? if so the number 5QX2YB2. If it isn't I am having trouble locating it.
