Desktop Laptop or Desktop PC

Hey there,

I'm a computer engineering student with quite a dilemma. I have a MSI GP60 2QF Leopard Pro (just read it out the sticker in the front) which is like 2-3 years old. I'm planning on buying a more portable laptop for college (see my other thread) for around 500-600€.

My question now is, is it worth selling this laptop and buying a desktop PC for around 500-800€ for 'light' gaming (LoL, CS:GO at 60+ fps)? I was looking into the HP Pavilion Wave or something similar.

If the answer to the previous question is 'yes', do you also know how and where I can sell my old laptop in Belgium?

If you must get a PC after selling your laptop, then you must build a system on your own which is much more self satisfying when you compare it to a prebuilt. On top of that the prebuilts often don't/wont allow you to upgrade until a certain point. On another note, if portability is your thing then you should be sticking to a laptop. Please keep in mind though that laptops that are meant to be desktop replacements will often cost more and also weight more with a larger display.

What sort of duties do you tax the laptop with in order to see it lag behind...?

First of all, thanks for the answer.

I don't see it lag behind, I was just wondering if it is worth it since all my heavy stuff is done at home and the note taking for classes in college would be done on another lighter laptop. So I don't use my desktop laptop out of my home.

So, the conclusion would be that if I want to get another laptop, it would have to be a custom-made right? In order to keep it up to date with upgrades here and there.

PS. I've got another thread about this lighter laptop, since for the time being, I don't have it, could you look at it aswell if you got a minute? Thanks!
