I hope no, but if you tried the steps zer0c007 said, it could be a damage in the video chip (or issues with the solder in the chip). I have also a sony vaio (E series, 15 inch, AMD Athlon II x2, DDR3, ATI HD4250) which has something similar. I tried disassembling and assembling again but no luck.
I have to try giving some pressure with something between video chip and heatpipes to see if it boots. This or getting a new motherboard.
