My Acer aspire laptop was working while watching a series it suddenly shuts down, when I connect the charger without the battery present the power LED blinks continuously but very dim and wen I put the battery in and try turning it on the battery LED jus blinks for a few seconds but brightly

Sounds like you need a new battery and the device doesn't want to run without one in it. Some don't.
If that doesn't resolve the issue (replacing the battery), then you may well need to replace the charger as well.
