Hi all,

My girlfriends laptop recently was having some fan issues. The main fan was making some horrible noises. I've worked on desktops before, but never laptops, but of course I dive right in with my bundle of confidence. I swapped the fans, put it back together, and...

Nothing. No power.

I plug in charger and power comes on, keyboard lights up and I can hear the fans, but no display. After a little bit of research, I believe I disconnected the internal display cable incorrectly, and damaged it. I'm unsure though. Tried plugging it into an external monitor and got nothing.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully someone can fix my stupidity. I'm really hoping this is an easy fix.

Thanks

(EDIT: I just had a look and the cable I was thinking of is an EDP cable.)

Solution
Try disconnecting the display cable again and reconnecting it. At both ends. May be all you need. If that doesn't work, then I would replace the cable.

But wouldn't that involve disassembling the screen to unplug the other side? Also during the fan replacement, I only unplugged the one side. As far as I know, the only things I unplugged for the fan swap were the cords for the m.2 wifi adapter, the cable which I think is display cable, and the fan power cables. Later while trying to diagnose the issue, tried re seating ram and unplugged battery.

Hello, were you able to fix that problem? The same thing is happening to me now after unplugging the screen from the MB to clean one of the fans. Thanks a lot!
