FIrst of all, hello to all. newbie here holding my old laptop and waving my hand to you. I think i have a complicated issue with my laptop so i decided to pop in for any solutions. I own a Dell Inspiron N 5050 (windows 7 OS)which is 6 years old. So, it keeps shutting down now a days more often. First confession: i am running it directly on AC power. my battery was showing a red flag warning recently. Anyways, I have this problem for long time now. and what amazes me is that the keyboard would type some characters on it's own and stops for a few seconds and then shuts off ! strange right? I did almost everything I can. I performed diagnostics test checked for any hardware problems(processor fan speed is 3969 rpm high-4423 rpm ,low- 2945 rpm; cpu thermistor is 69c. high-75c,low-63c; other thermistor 54c high 56c, low- 46c; other thermistor 48c high 48c, low- 41c;video thermistor 16c,other thermistor 63c which is high already ) but everything seems to be fine. Day before yesterday I opened the cpu fan, cleaned it and applied thermal paste too. Still nothing changed. somehow it is beyond my comprehension how come the keyboard is activating by itself. It types something like this : '65ß55 and then shuts down. I actually wanted to snap a picture while it does so i opened snapshot application on my laptop today waiting for the moment but very strangely the app snapped the screenshots three times by itself and then shutdown again. sometimes when i watch youtube videos, the video would pullback to starting point again after half of it is watched.its a bit frustrating but I dont know i thought to leave my last try here. I've asked in a repair shop and he says just to open the laptop it would cost 25 euros and additional charges for repair based on the damage level. i find it expensive to buy a new battery and repair together. is there someone out there who could help me with this issue please? I checked with forums but it seems mine is unique problem. kindly let me know if you can share some information. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Thanks for responding!
I have antivirus protection installed. It keeps scanning from time to time. I believe there is no such virus hiding in my laptop.

Hey Sir!
I didn't do that but my usage of the internet would be mostly watching videos on YouTube, checking mails and working something in msword. Would you recommend any free version malware Please??
I bought a wireless keyboard and started using it . Surprisingly, the laptop didn't shut down. I can continue using it but somehow I feel I must find out what went wrong with the machine. I checked using the default keyboard again and the problem persisted. This is giving me an impression that there might be something wrong with the keyboard. As said earlier, the f1 key gets activated first and then appears these characters
or strings : '65ß55 before shutting down automatically. May be the keyboard might be sending shutdown command on it's own I have no clue. What do you think??

Thank you so much. I'll run the malware and look for any possible traces.

Hello my friend,
Here is a small update: I ran the free version today and found nothing. so the laptop is clean I think. Or i will take it to the dell authorized professional. That would be a better choice otherwise its confusing me a lot these days. Thank you very much for your time.
