Connect VGA to HDMI

Solution
Out of range means you're trying to drive the projector at a scan rate it's not capable of. You have to either decrease the resolution and/or lower the refresh rate. In that order.

You should look through your projector's manual (or look it up online) to find its native resolution, and set Windows to that resolution.

If you've set Windows at the projector's native resolution and are still getting the error, then try lowering the refresh rate.

You need a VGA-HDMI adapter, for example https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adapter-Convertor-Cable-Converter-support/dp/B00K808RVQ, though you need to make sure the HDMI connectors are the ones you need (i.e. there are HDMI and mini-HDMI connectors, make sure the adapter has the connectors of the size you need)

Actually, since the projector only takes VGA, he needs the opposite. HDMI to VGA adapter. With separate analog audio output cable (presumably to speakers) since HDMI output normally carries digital audio.
