So my roommate and I are attempting to set up a basic stereo system for our TV using some speakers that he had from an old stereo and a cheap receiver that I picked up on craigslist a few years ago. They are some RCA branded towers that match very well with our furniture and we would like to use them, but they only have a single male RCA input rather than regular speaker wire. I have never seen a set of speakers that use RCA inputs rather than speaker wire, and my receiver only has standard speaker wire and banana plug outputs for speakers.

I have tested the speakers using a 3.5mm to RCA cable from my phone and get faint but good sound without any type of external amplifier. Would a female RCA to speaker wire adapter work to power these speakers? Or do I need to simply look at getting different speakers?
