While monkeying around with a clanking fan (in an inspiron 15 5000 series laptop) I cut a ribbon cord adhered to the fan, thinking it was just tape. I finished my "repair" and laptop worked fine until powered off, and was unable to power back on. The power button caused no response at all.

Turns out the cord connected the power button circuit board to the motherboard, and also that I'm an idiot. New parts are problematic due to my current geographic position.

I need to turn this thing on, and further googling indicates i can somehow achieve this through use of the "mains power switch"? Or it would be possible but difficult to splice the ribbon cable back together? ORRR i need to activate the power circuit through some voodoo magic or something.

I am a danger to technology...

I did it. HAHAHA. Like a drooling chimp I stuck my flathead into the cable's female port on the motherboard. I'm such a genius. I'm so ** up. You're welcome and I'm so sorry. Thanks and goodbye
