Hello all,

I just bought a Xonar DSX PCIe 7.1 sound card. Installed it w/ drivers for Win10 but no my logitech headphones that are USB no longer work. I disabled my onboard soundcard via the Xonar instructions and wondering if that did it.

Am I screwed and have to buy new headphones with the headphone jack for the soundcard?

Solution
You just need to go audio devices & set the Logitech phones as default playback device

Why did you buy a soundcard if you already have USB phones exactly ??

The Logitech have their own inbuilt audio processing

You can use one or the other at a time but not both !

I was told if I got nicer speakers, that I should get a better sound card that would be "better" than my onboard sound. Were they wrong?

Speakers as in what speakers exactly ??
I see no need for a addin soundcard personally , the audio on most motherboards is absolutely good enough nowadays.

As I said you can use the soundcard for speaker & still use the USB headset but not simultaneously.

What you've probably lost is the automatic switching to the headphones when they're plugged in.
Just right click the speaker icon bottom tight taskbar , select playback devices & set the Logitech phones as default audio & they will work again

But yes , somebody probably talked you into buying a soundcard you didn't actually need at all.
