Torn between two machines

Hi,

I am just looking for a bit of advice. My current laptop has died on me and I am looking to replace it but I am torn between two different models. What are your thoughts on the best spec to go for? I would really appreciate some advice please. I believe that both of these specs would give me the option to go down the VR route if I wished.

Also what are people's thoughts on what is the better manufacture/brand between MSI and HP Omen?

The first has:
Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad Core Processor
17.3" Full HD IPS Screen
Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit
8GB DDR4 RAM
128GB SSD + 1000GB HDD
Dedicated GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Graphics

While the second has the following spec:

Intel Core i7-6700HQ Quad Core Processor
17.3" Full HD Screen
Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit
16GB DDR4 RAM
128GB SSD + 2000GB HDD
Dedicated GeForce GTX 1060 3GB Graphics

From a CPU POV I don't see very little difference from a performance side, so the bigger difference comes down to memory.

I would think that the extra video memory on the first machine should give it the edge but will the lower physical memory hold it back (I don't really want to swap out the memory if I don't have to straight away - same as with the HDD)

Thank you all in advance for any help or advice you can offer!

Solution
Agreed - First one for sure.

Hard disk and memory can be replaced and upgraded.

cpu and gpu cannot.

The first machine will be better for longer.

The first one is the one to get, RAM can usually be changed very easily, a gpu though can never be in a laptop

Quite a decent improvement I would imagine, maybe 20-40%
