Currently I am looking for laptops, a GTX 1050 based system to be exact, but I'm not sure what to get, I was thinking building my own or getting a laptop and putting one in, but I'm not sure, if anyone has any recommendations I'd certainly appreciate it, but remember, I'd prefer building my own or adding a gpu to a laptop without one.

1. You can't build a laptop

2. You can't upgrade 99% of laptops, especially not if there is no dedicated card to begin with.

What's your budget and other specs you want?

You can't build your own laptop... not anymore. The DIY laptop market died back in 2007 or 2008. There was an extremely limited market where you could pick a laptop chassis and one or at most two different motherboards that would fit in a specific chassis. One motherboard would have had integrated GPU or a dedicate GPU chip soldered into the motherboard. The other motherboard (if a 2nd version existed for a specific chassis) would have a MXM interface to insert a MXM format GPU; think of it as a mini graphics board you would plug into a mini PCIe port.

As far as I am aware nVidia has not released any GTX 1050 GPUs in MXM format. There is a MXM format (version 3.1) GTX 1050 Ti card, but based on a comment in a different IT forum, the selling price was quoted at $450. Then you need a laptop with a compatible MXM port to stick the GTX 1050 Ti into. The problem is if the laptop has a MXM port, it is going to be sold with a GPU already installed... sometimes soldered in depending on brand, make and model of the laptop.
