Some time ago, i had a sudden sound corruption on my laptop while playing a game, and decided to do a reinstall of the Realtek HD Audio Driver and Dolby Digital Audio package that the manufacturer supplied with my laptop.

While the uninstall process happened properly, the driver has refused to reinstall thus far, forcing me to use Microsoft HD Audio in the meantime, which is of much lower fidelity.

The installer for the driver usually closes stating Error 0x000003FA,.
If i take the effort to uninstall the Microsoft HD Audio Driver and disable the Windows HD Audio Bus from the Device Manager, i get the Error 0x8E5E03FA.

Going to the Event Viewer, i see a series of PnPDriverImportError entries as a result of every attempt at installation.

Manually forcing an update to the Realtek HD Audio driver via the driver update feature in Device Manager gives a result saying that "Illegal operation attempted on aregistry key that has been marked for deletion."

If someone could offer suggestions as to get Realtek HD Audio and Dolby Digital Audio to install and work, i'd be obliged.
